One innovative Atlanta dealer adopted a marketing strategy he noticed working with other online retailers - the “one-deal-a-day.” Similar to the popular site Woot!, one-deal-a-day is where a retailer will offer one item per day at an unbelievably low price. This trend started online with progressive retailers who sought to attract online customers looking for extreme value.

Jim Ellis Auto Group listed three new Saab 9.3s and two new VW Passats on Thursday, March 26 on the eBay Daily Deal feature included on eBay’s homepage. With more than 1 billion daily unique visitors to eBay.com, Jim Ellis Auto Group received exposure of its inventory to potential buyers across the country. The Saab’s were offered at up to 39 percent below MSRP. The VW’s were offered at more than 17 percent below MSRP.

From Friday, March 27 to Tuesday, March 31,  Jim Ellis Auto Group featured its new Saab and new VW inventory from the eBay Daily Deal to the eBay Motors Mega Deal page. This page is listed as a feature on eBay Motors. The discounts offered on the eBay Motors Mega Deal were be the same as the deal offered on eBay Daily Deal. Jim Ellis Auto Group in Atlanta sold 6 Saab 9.3s and complete those transactions through the eBay process. An additional 3 Saab 9.3s sold on the lot due to local customers finding the cars listed through the eBay Daily Deal.
